KATHMANDU: Former President and former Vice-Chairperson of CPN-UML, Bidya Devi Bhandari, has expressed confidence that the party’s newly elected leadership from the 11th General Convention will move the party forward by strengthening internal democracy, collective leadership and organizational unity in line with the guidance of People’s Multiparty Democracy.

In a message shared on social media platform Facebook on Saturday, Bhandari said the successful completion of the UML’s national general convention and the selection of new leadership through democratic competition reflect the party’s organizational maturity and the living practice of democracy.

She stated that competition is a natural and essential process in a democracy and claimed that it further strengthens and energizes institutions.

Bhandari extended heartfelt congratulations and best wishes for a successful tenure to KP Sharma Oli, who was elected party chair for a third term, along with other newly elected office bearers, central committee members and members of various party commissions.

The former UML vice-chairperson also thanked all leaders and cadres who participated in the convention competition with commitment to ideology, integrity and established norms.

She further expressed gratitude to all delegates, observers, and those who worked tirelessly to make the general convention successful, including volunteers, health workers and artists.
