35 Nepalis deported from the US arrive in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU: Thirty-five Nepalis deported from the United States arrived in Kathmandu on Wednesday via an American-chartered plane.

Under the policies implemented during former President Donald Trump’s administration, the US has been deporting foreign nationals living in the country illegally. Many Nepalis have been deported previously.

The 35 returnees were taken to the Human Trafficking Investigation Bureau by the Immigration Office.

SSP Krishna Pangeni stated that the Bureau conducted routine inquiries and subsequently released them.

Police noted that Nepalis who have been deported after entering the US illegally often claim they were wronged, prompting further investigations by authorities.
