NAWALPUR: Vehicular movement will be halted for two consecutive nights along the Narayani River bridge area connecting Nawalpur and Chitwan on the Narayanghat–Butwal section of the East-West Highway.
The road will be closed from 11:00 pm to 4:00 am on November 21 and 22 to carry out blacktopping works on the western approach road to the Narayani River bridge.
According to Engineer Ishwor Bahadur Rizal, Head of Planning for the Narayanghat–Butwal Road Project (Eastern Section), the nighttime closure is necessary to complete the blacktopping of the under-construction approach segment.
During the closure, eastbound vehicles will be stopped at designated locations in Nawalpur, while westbound traffic will be halted at various points in Chitwan. Rizal urged motorists to wait at designated holding areas or use alternative routes.
Passenger vehicles heading east from Butwal—such as buses, minibuses, microbuses, and small four-wheelers—will be stopped from Thumsi westward, while heavy cargo vehicles including trucks, trailers, and containers will be held from Beldiha.
Westbound vehicles coming via Nawalpur will be stopped in Chitwan, with small passenger vehicles held between Ramnagar and Jugedi on the Muglin–Narayanghat road, and from Central Bus Park to Gondrang on the East-West Highway. Cargo vehicles will be stopped from Jugedi to Dasdhunga and from Gondrang to Tikauli.
Passengers have faced significant inconvenience due to road widening and frequent potholes in this section. Upon completion of this 170-meter blacktopping from the Narayani bridge westward, approximately 60 kilometers of the Narayanghat–Butwal section will have been connected by fresh blacktop.
