Kathmandu University launches IT centre, mobile app to boost research and digital services

KATHMANDU: Kathmandu University (KU) has established a new information technology centre at its Dhulikhel campus, aiming to foster research, innovation, and digital resilience. The University also launched a mobile application, KU-Connect, to enhance access to academic and administrative services.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Achyut Wagle said the IT centre will support advanced research through a ‘supercomputing cluster’ and the implementation of Nepal’s National AI Policy. “A research and ethical framework will be developed to utilise local data responsibly. The centre will also create support systems for emergencies, including earthquakes, pandemics, and floods,” he added.

The KU-Connect app is designed to streamline students’ access to academic and campus information. Features include student profile management, course and programme lists, exam results, fee details, payment records, certificates, and updates on university news and events.

According to Wagle, the initiative is part of KU’s broader efforts to strengthen digital infrastructure, encourage innovation, and ensure students and faculty have timely access to information.
