Mechi Customs Office collects Rs 4.15 billion in first quarter



JHAPA: The Mechi Customs Office in Kakadbhitta collected Rs 4.15 billion in revenue in the first quarter of the current fiscal year (2025/26), achieving 95 percent of its target.

According to the Office’s Information Officer, Ishwar Kumar Humagain, the revenue target for the first three months was slightly over Rs 4.36 billion.

The highest share of revenue came from imported goods, which contributed around Rs 1.8 billion. Value Added Tax (VAT) generated Rs 1.49 billion, while road maintenance and reform tariffs brought in Rs 131.7 million. Similarly, the office collected Rs 111 million from excise duty.

Revenue from exports totaled Rs 106 million, and Rs 395 million was raised through the infrastructure tax.

Humagain said the office exceeded its monthly target in Asoj, collecting Rs 1.52 billion against a target of Rs 1.5 billion.
