Landslide in Jure blocks Araniko Highway



SINDHUPALCHOWK: The Araniko Highway has been blocked due to a landslide triggered by continuous rainfall in the Jure section of Sindhupalchowk.

According to DSP Madhav Raj Kharel of the District Police Office, Sindhupalchowk, the landslide occurred late last night, halting traffic in both directions. “Efforts are underway to clear the debris,” DSP Kharel said, adding that excavators and loaders have been deployed since early morning to remove the landslide.

Hundreds of vehicles have been stranded along the highway due to the obstruction. The situation has been further complicated by the collapse of electricity poles in Jure, which fell during the landslide, affecting traffic movement.

Additionally, flooding caused by heavy rainfall has disrupted traffic in other parts of Sindhupalchowk as well.
