Couple missing after landslide buries house in Parbat

PARBAT: An elderly couple has gone missing after a landslide buried their home in Langdi, Deurali of Modi Rural Municipality-3 in Parbat district.

Chhabilal Bishwakarma, 76, and his wife Bishnumati, 76, were inside their one-story house when the landslide struck. Their daughter-in-law, Pabitra Bishwakarma, 32, managed to escape, according to Santosh BK, ward member of Modi-3.

Locals have launched a rescue operation, while police are en route to the site. “We will confirm details after reaching the location,” said Inspector Ram Prasad Sapkota of the District Police Office.

Heavy rainfall has been ongoing in Parbat and surrounding areas since last night, causing rivers and streams in the region to swell.
