Flood and landslide warnings issued as rainfall intensifies in Kaski and Ilam

KATHMANDU: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has issued a warning due to heavy rainfall in Lumle and surrounding areas of Kaski.

In a notice released this morning, the Department reported heavy rain in the region with the possibility of continued precipitation. Residents have been urged to remain cautious as further rainfall may cause sudden rises in the flow of small rivers in the area and increase the risk of landslides on weak or steep terrain.

Earlier, a similar warning was issued for Bhujung and nearby areas of Lamjung. Additionally, at 5:30 am today, the department reported that water levels have surpassed alert thresholds at the Kankai and Mainachuli hydrological gauge stations in Ilam.

Residents in flood-prone riverine and low-lying areas have been advised to remain on high alert until this afternoon as rainfall continues to intensify in the region.
