Two motorcyclists killed in head-on collision in Jirayat, Sarlahi



SARLAHI: Two motorcyclists were killed in a head-on collision in Jirayat, Bagmati Municipality, Sarlahi district.

The incident occurred along the East-West Highway at Putali Chowk in Ward 4 of the municipality. A motorcycle with registration number Province 3–02–006 Pa 7868 heading towards Solti collided with another motorcycle (Ba 56 Pa 526) coming from the opposite direction.

According to police, the deceased have been identified as 33-year-old Nagendra Sah Sonar of former Bishunpura VDC, Rautahat, and 30-year-old Bibek Manandhar of Basantapur, Kathmandu Metropolitan City–23. Both were riding the respective motorcycles involved in the crash.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Saroj Rai, spokesperson for the District Police Office, said both victims died en route to Birgunj after initial treatment at Model Hospital in Bagmati.

Two pillion riders were also injured in the accident: 32-year-old Chanchala Devi Sah of Bishunpura–4, Rautahat, and 34-year-old Munidevi Sah of Bakuliya, Bihar, India. They are currently undergoing treatment in Birgunj.

The bodies of the deceased have been kept at a hospital in Chandrapur.
