JAJARKOT: Chair of Maoist Centre, Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, has said that the party is seriously taking into account the people’s feedback and criticism, and moving forward with self-assessment and reflection.
Speaking during an interaction program organized by the Mid-Hill Highway Public Dialogue Campaign team led by Dahal in Bheri Municipality of Jajarkot, representatives from various sectors including elected officials, political parties, government employees, journalists, civil society, and local stakeholders shared their views and concerns.
Participants in the program highlighted that infrastructure projects such as the Bheri Corridor, Mid-Hill Highway, and Lumbini-Rara Highway are progressing, and road connectivity has reached many villages. However, they pointed out the lack of progress in the Nalgad Hydropower Project, emphasizing the need to prioritize it.
They also raised concerns about the effectiveness of the provincial government, urging better implementation of federalism.
In response, Dahal stated that the party has taken the suggestions seriously. “The questions raised are valid, and the suggestions are important,” he said. “We are not here to lecture, but to listen to the people.”
He recalled that during his tenure as Prime Minister, immediate rescue and relief operations were launched in Jajarkot following an earthquake.
Touching on the topic of communist unity, Dahal claimed he was the one who initially proposed the unification of communist forces. “I was the one who unified the party and made KP Oli the Prime Minister,” he said, “but why did that unity break down? Without diagnosing the issue, there can be no cure. We must evaluate it honestly.”
Addressing public grievances about the lack of proper delegation of powers under federalism, Prachanda urged the government to strengthen its implementation and effectiveness.
He clarified that this campaign aims to correct the party’s weaknesses and rebuild its connection with the people and the working class.
