KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has called an emergency meeting of its Central Executive Committee following the arrest of party chair Rajendra Lingden and other senior leaders.
According to the party’s publicity department head Mohan Shrestha, the decision was made after police detained Lingden, Vice Chair Buddhi Man Tamang, and spokesperson Gyanendra Shahi from within the Singha Durbar premises.
Lingden and the others were heading to Bijuli Bazaar to participate in a protest demanding the release of party leaders and activists arrested during a demonstration at Tinkune on Chaitra 15.
They were reportedly detained while visiting the RPP’s parliamentary party office inside Singha Durbar, where Chief Whip Gyanendra Shahi, MPs Deepak Singh, and Bina Lama had been confined.
