12 arrested in connection with banned drugs



KATHMANDU: Police have arrested twelve individuals from various districts across the country on charges of possessing banned drugs, including brown heroin, tramadol, marijuana, and suspected opium.

According to the Narcotics Control Bureau, arrests were made in districts including Makawanpur, Chitwan, Morang, Kailali, Kanchanpur, Surkhet, and Sankhuwasabha.

In Morang, 19-year-old Bishal Sarki of Hetauda-4 and 31-year-old Saran Dangi of Sundarharaincha-2 were arrested from Bank Road, Biratnagar with brown heroin. Similarly, in Chitwan, 61-year-old Shantikumari Mahato and 25-year-old Bishal Sunar, both residents of Bharatpur-26, were held with controlled substances including tramadol and marijuana.

From the Far-West, police detained 25-year-old Sanju Kumar Chaudhary of Kailali, along with Karan Bahadur Deuba and Rohit Shahi of Kanchanpur, and Ram Bahadur Bista of Bhimdatta Municipality, with banned drugs in their possession.

In Surkhet, 21-year-old Anish Nepali from Nepalgunj was found with a substance resembling brown sugar. Meanwhile, in Sankhuwasabha, Ram Bahadur Adhikari, Keshav Ghimire, and Devendra Thapa were arrested with what police suspect to be opium.

Authorities have launched further investigations into each case, and police say they are intensifying surveillance efforts across districts to curb illegal drug activities.
