Westerly winds affecting weather in Nepal



KATHMANDU: The Weather Forecasting Division has indicated that the country is currently under the partial influence of the westerly wind and a western low-pressure system.

The weather in Sudurpaschim, Karnali, Lumbini, and Gandaki provinces is partly to mostly cloudy, while the rest of the country remains clear. Some areas in the Terai are experiencing fog.

This afternoon, the weather will remain partly to mostly cloudy in Sudurpaschim, Karnali, Lumbini, and Gandaki provinces, as well as in other hilly regions, while the rest of the country will see clear skies.

Light rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is possible in parts of Lumbini, Sudurpaschim, and Karnali provinces, with some isolated occurrences in the hilly regions of other provinces.

In addition, light snowfall is expected in high-altitude areas of Sudurpaschim, Karnali, and Gandaki provinces, as well as in certain high hilly and mountainous regions across the rest of the country.

Tonight, Sudurpaschim and Karnali provinces will remain partly to generally cloudy, while the rest of the hilly regions will see partly cloudy weather. The rest of the country will remain mostly clear.

Light rain with thunder and lightning could occur in some areas of Gandaki, Sudurpaschim, and Karnali provinces, and isolated places in the hilly regions of other provinces.

The possibility of light snowfall remains in high-altitude areas of Sudurpaschim, Karnali, and Gandaki provinces, with a few places in the high hilly regions of the remaining provinces also likely to experience light snow.

In the next 24 hours, the Division forecasts light rain with thunder and lightning in some hilly regions of Gandaki, Sudurpaschim, and Karnali provinces, along with isolated instances in other provinces, including Lumbini.

The Division has urged all concerned authorities to remain vigilant due to the potential impact of light snowfall on daily life, health, road conditions, and aviation, especially in high-altitude regions.
