KATHMANDU: Nepal is set to play its second match in the ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup on Monday, aiming for a comeback after a five-wicket loss to Bangladesh in the opening match on Saturday.
The match against Scotland will begin at 12:15 pm in Malaysia, where the tournament is being held.
Nepal is part of Group ‘D,’ which includes teams like Bangladesh, Australia, and Scotland.
In the opening game, Nepal lost the toss and were asked to bat but struggled to score, managing only 52 runs in 18.2 overs. Bangladesh easily chased the target in 13.2 overs, losing five wickets in the process.
Scotland also comes into this match seeking redemption after a nine-wicket defeat to Australia in their opening game. With both Nepal and Scotland searching for their first victory, today’s match is crucial for keeping their World Cup hopes alive.
Nepal’s U-19 squad, led by captain Pooja Mahato, will need to bring their best game forward to secure a win and improve their position in the group standings.
The tournament features four groups.
Group ‘A’ includes Malaysia, India, Sri Lanka, and West Indies, while Group ‘B’ consists of England, Ireland, Pakistan, and the USA. Group ‘C’ is comprised of New Zealand, Samoa, South Africa, and Nigeria.
Nepal’s final group-stage match is scheduled against Australia on January 22.
