Madhesh Provincial Assembly meeting taking place today

JANAKPURDHAM: The Madhesh Provincial Assembly is meeting today at 1 PM. The session was called by the Provincial Assembly Secretariat at the direction of Deputy Speaker Babita Raut Ishar.

Today’s meeting is expected to discuss the impeachment motion registered against Assembly Speaker Ramchandra Mandal.

On Tuesday, 32 provincial assembly members from various parties, excluding UML, had submitted a request to Deputy Speaker Ishar, demanding that the assembly session be convened.

According to the Assembly Regulations, if 25 percent of provincial assembly members request a meeting, the assembly must be summoned.

On October 13, a total of 74 provincial lawmakers from the seven-party alliance registered an impeachment motion against Speaker Mandal, accusing him of failing to uphold conduct befitting his position.
