Priest shot dead in Saptari



SAPTARI: Ramdular Sah, a 73-year-old priest at the Kabir Baba Temple in Rajakpatti, Kachan, Ward No. 8 of Bodebarsain Municipality, Saptari district, was shot dead early this morning.

According to Ram Sundar Sah, a family member, an unidentified group pulled the priest out of his hut around 2:00 a.m. and shot him in the back. The priest had been living alone on the temple premises.

Local residents immediately informed the Kachanali police post, and police teams from the District Police Office and the Area Police Office in Kadarbona arrived shortly after to begin an investigation. Police recovered two bullet casings from the scene.

Superintendent of Police Gautam Kumar KC, chief of the District Police Office in Saptari, stated that the body has been sent to the B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan for a post-mortem examination.

He also confirmed that a search operation has been intensified in the district’s border areas to track down those involved in the killing.
