Newborn baby found abandoned in Jhapa’s Buddhashanti



BHADRAPUR: A newborn baby has been found abandoned in Sunmai, Buddhashanti Rural Municipality-7.

The infant, estimated to be around four to five days old, was discovered on the balcony of Sima Acharya’s house. Om Prakash Tumihang Limbu, a resident of Srijanga Rural Municipality-7 in Taplejung and currently renting a room at Acharya’s home, spotted the baby around 9:00 p.m. on Thursday and immediately informed the Area Police Office.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Khagendra Bahadur Khadka said a police team reached the scene promptly after receiving the report. The baby was rescued and taken to the Provincial Hospital in Bhadrapur for medical care, in the presence of locals, public representatives, and community elders.

According to the police, the baby’s health is currently stable. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
