Stable weather expected for Tihar



KATHMANDU: The weather is expected to remain generally normal during Tihar, Nepal’s second-largest festival, with only minor disturbances due to western winds.

According to the Weather Forecasting Division, some hilly areas of the country will experience partly to mostly cloudy conditions, though the overall weather system will not be significantly affected.

From October 20 to 23, there is a chance of light rain and snowfall in a few high hill and Himalayan regions. On Laxmi Puja (October 20), the weather will be partly cloudy in the hilly areas while the rest of the country is expected to remain mainly clear. Brief spells of heavy rain may occur in isolated spots in the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces.

On October 21, skies will remain partly cloudy in the hills and clear elsewhere, with similar chances of localized heavy rain in parts of Koshi, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces.

By October 22, the forecast shows partly to mostly cloudy skies in the hilly regions, with the rest of the country staying mostly clear. Light rain and snowfall are likely in higher elevations of Koshi and Karnali.

On Bhaitika (October 23), partly to mostly cloudy weather is expected in Koshi and Madhes and other hilly areas, while most other regions will see clear skies. There is a chance of light rain in some hilly areas and light snowfall in isolated high hill and Himalayan locations.

Overall, the festival period is expected to enjoy relatively stable weather, with only brief and localized disturbances in higher elevations.
