Maoist Center opposes move to remove Deputy Speaker Rana

KATHMANDU: The CPN (Maoist Center) has concluded that attempts to remove Deputy Speaker Indira Rana are being made with ill intent.

At a party office-bearers’ meeting held at Parisdanda on Tuesday, the Maoist Center decided to oppose the move.

Following the meeting, party spokesperson Agni Sapkota said the government is becoming authoritarian and acting against the interests of the country and the people.

He accused the government of trying to manipulate the Land Bill to distribute land to its allies and of seeking to influence the Education Bill. According to him, such actions have given opportunities to anti-system forces.

Sapkota added that discussions on implementing the Standing Committee’s decisions and task distribution will be taken up in Wednesday’s office-bearers’ meeting, as Tuesday’s session lacked preparations.
