KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has announced that it will celebrate its third founding anniversary on June 21 with a nationwide campaign under the slogan “In Parliament and on the Streets: For the Abolition of Kleptocracy and the Promotion of Civilized Politics.”
A meeting of the party’s secretariat on Wednesday finalized a nine-point decision plan for the occasion, including a Central Committee meeting at the party’s central office in Kathmandu on the day of the anniversary.
The party’s leadership will also engage in public and parliamentary events aimed at reinforcing its political agenda.
According to acting spokesperson Manish Jha, the meeting held extensive discussions on the legal case concerning party president Rabi Lamichhane and recent parliamentary controversies surrounding the “visit visa” issue.
The party also announced a reshuffling of key positions within its central departments. Dr. Swarnim Wagle has been appointed as the head of the Policy and Ideology Department, with Santosh Pariyar serving as deputy.
Manish Jha will lead the Campaign and Publicity Department, Rajan Gautam has been named chief of the Agriculture Department, and Ram Nyaupane has been assigned as coordinator of the Energy and Water Resources Department.
In light of Nepal’s challenging political climate, the RSP also decided to form a “Cooperation and Dialogue Task Force” to bring together advocates of alternative politics, activists, and independent groups under a unified platform.
Furthermore, the party will launch a nationwide organizational campaign across all seven provinces in preparation for its first national general convention, which it describes as a historic milestone.
