KATHMANDU: Nepal is set to compete against the Netherlands today in the ongoing triangular T20 series. The two teams played a thrilling first match that went to three super overs, marking a historic encounter and raising anticipation for today’s second match.

Nepal, narrowly defeated in that intense first match, is eager to take revenge against the Netherlands. So far, the Netherlands has played three matches, winning two and accumulating four points.

Nepal has played two matches, securing one win and one loss, earning two points. The Netherlands lost their opening match to Scotland but bounced back to beat Nepal in the second match’s third super over, and then defeated Scotland by 17 runs in the third match.

Scotland began the series strongly by defeating the Netherlands by 39 runs in the opening game but lost to Nepal by two wickets in the second match.

Nepal and Scotland will face off in their final match on Friday. Both teams currently have two points each, but Scotland holds second place and Nepal third, based on net run rate.

The host nation Scotland kicked off the series with a 39-run win over the Netherlands on Sunday. The Netherlands then edged out Nepal in a dramatic third super over.

Nepal responded by beating Scotland by two wickets, and the Netherlands defeated Scotland by 17 runs in the fourth match.

Regardless of the scores, Nepal’s performances in this series have been captivating. Since their tour of Scotland, Nepali cricket has gained attention in global media.

The exciting first match has heightened interest in today’s rematch against the Netherlands, which is scheduled to start at 7:45 pm on Thursday.

With regular players Sompal Kami, Gulshan Jha, and Nandan Yadav sidelined due to injury, new talents such as Lokesh Bam, Kiran Thagunna, Rupesh Singh, and Bashir Ahmed have been given opportunities. Bhim Sarki has also been benched along with Asif and Arif Sheikh Dajubhai in the first two matches.

This T20 series follows the League-2 one-day series involving the same three teams, where Nepal won three out of four matches.
