UAE sets 115-run target for Nepal in Women’s T20 Asia Qualifier Super 3 clash

KATHMANDU: In their first match of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier Super 3, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has set a target of 115 runs for Nepal.

Batting first after losing the toss, UAE posted 114 runs for the loss of seven wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

Nepal’s Manisha Upadhyay delivered a standout bowling performance, taking four wickets for 20 runs in her four-over spell. Kabita Kunwar took two wickets for 18 runs, and Rajmati Airee claimed one wicket, conceding 22 runs. Other Nepali bowlers went wicketless.

Nepal opted to bowl first after winning the toss in the match being played in Thailand under the Super 3 stage of the ongoing ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier.

This is a must-win match for Nepal to secure a place in the Global Qualifiers. A loss would mean elimination from the tournament. Meanwhile, host nation Thailand has already secured their spot in the Global Qualifiers with a game in hand.

Earlier, Thailand defeated UAE by 45 runs on Sunday. In the tournament, Nepal topped Group C, while Thailand and UAE topped Groups A and B, respectively.
