Rain, wind, and storms likely in some areas

KATHMANDU: The Weather Forecasting Division of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has reported that Nepal is currently under the influence of westerly and local winds, along with partial effects from moisture-laden winds originating from the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea.

According to the Division, the weather remains partly to generally cloudy in hilly regions, including Koshi and Gandaki provinces, while most other areas are seeing mainly clear to partly cloudy skies.

Thunderstorms and lightning have been observed at isolated locations across all provinces.

This afternoon, the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces are expected to remain partly to generally cloudy, with the rest of the country experiencing partly cloudy conditions.

There is a likelihood of light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning at a few locations in these provinces.

Light rain and snowfall are also possible at one or two spots in the high hilly and mountainous regions. In addition, windstorms may occur in isolated areas of Koshi, Gandaki, Lumbini, and the Terai regions of Madhesh and Sudurpaschim provinces.

Tonight, skies will remain partly to generally cloudy over Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, especially in the hilly regions, while the rest of the country will be mainly clear to partly cloudy.

The Division has urged the public to take necessary precautions, as adverse weather conditions—such as rain, storms, and snowfall—could impact daily life, agriculture, health, as well as road and air transport.
