POKHARA: The collective resignation submitted by 35 permanent teachers of Kaski, who had resigned in protest of the ghost-effect provision in Section 12 of the ordinance to amend some Nepal acts 2025, has been withdrawn.
The teachers had protested against the ordinance issued by the government on January 13, which sought to amend some acts related to good governance and public service delivery.
At a thank-you and resignation withdrawal program held at the office of the Chief of the Education Development and Coordination Unit, Kaski, teacher Kirti Raj Dhakal, one of the movement’s leaders, read out the letter of resignation withdrawal.
Dhakal stated that their movement was democratic, dignified, and justified, which compelled the government to amend the Ordinance Replacement Bill. The amended provision now clarifies that the section will come into effect only from April 14, as demanded.
He also expressed gratitude to the Minister of Education, Science and Technology for continuously engaging in dialogue to address the teachers’ demands. The amendment to Section 9, Section A of the “Teacher Service” of the Pension Fund Act 2018 now includes the statement: “The provisions under this section shall commence from April 14.”
Unit Chief Loknath Acharya, who received the letter of withdrawal, expressed satisfaction that the teachers’ legitimate demands had been addressed. He emphasized the importance of teachers entering classrooms with a positive mindset, noting that improving education requires addressing the issues that impact teachers’ morale.
Teacher Bhuwan Subedi, who chaired the program, expressed gratitude to all supporters of the movement, including students, parents, journalists, and security personnel.
He announced that since the government had addressed their concerns, the movement programs would be halted, and the teachers would now focus on public education reform under the Nepal Teachers Federation’s banner.
