Maoists not worried about toppling govt: Narayan Kaji Shrestha

KATHMANDU: Senior Vice Chair of the Maoist Center and former Home Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha has dismissed speculation about the Maoist Center’s involvement in forming or toppling the government.

Speaking at a press conference organized by the Press Center Taplejung on Wednesday, Shrestha stated that the party is currently focused on strengthening its organization rather than engaging in political maneuvers.

“The Maoist Center is not in a position to form a new government or bring down the existing one,” he said, addressing growing rumors about potential shifts in the country’s political landscape. Instead, he highlighted the party’s priority on internal consolidation and policy implementation.

Shrestha further mentioned that discussions with the government are ongoing regarding key political issues, including the completion of the full proportional electoral system, the direct executive system, and the peace process.

His remarks come at a time when Nepal’s political atmosphere is rife with speculation about possible government restructuring.
