Kho Kho World Cup: Nepali women’s team falls short in final



KATHMANDU: The Nepali women’s team emerged as the runners-up in the inaugural Kho Kho World Cup after losing to host India in the final.

In the match held on Sunday at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium, New Delhi, Nepal was defeated 78–40. India claimed the title undefeated throughout the tournament.

Despite the loss, Nepal created history by securing a silver medal in their debut World Cup participation. Nepal had booked their spot in the final by defeating Uganda 89–18 in the semifinals.

The women’s team, led by captain Saraswati Kadayat, included players Manmati Dhami, Pooja Oad, Asha Tharu, Deepa BK, Nisha Shahi, Karma Kumari Shahi, Kanchan Chaudhary, Punam Tharu, Samjhana BK, Deepa Kumari BK, Khushbu Rana, Barsha Pandit, Geeta Chaudhary, and Anisha Gole.

Laxminarayan Baidya served as the team’s coach.

Meanwhile, Nepal’s men’s team is also set to face India in the final later today.
