Polls 77 days away as EC releases civic education resource book



KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) has publicized the “Civic Education Promotion Resource Booklet for Election Programs.”

Prepared for social studies teachers, the Election Education Resource Booklet, 2082 has been developed under the slogan “Election education and information expansion as infrastructure for free and fair elections” and has been made available through the Commission’s website. The booklet is designed to support election-related education programs and contains seven thematic chapters.

Chapter One focuses on democracy and the Constitution, while Chapter Two addresses provisions related to elections and political parties. Chapter Three explains the electoral system, different levels of elections, and inclusiveness, and Chapter Four outlines the election cycle and processes, including voting procedures, No Vote provisions, and vote counting.

Likewise, Chapter Five covers election management bodies and relevant laws. Chapter Six deals with compliance with the election code of conduct, monitoring, and supervision. Chapter Seven highlights election stakeholders, the duties and rights of citizens, the role of teachers in the election process, and visits to election education and information centers.
