Oli brands those blaming him for Gen-Z crackdown as anti-UML

LALITPUR: Nepali Congress leader and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Tuesday labeled those holding him responsible for the crackdown and casualties during the Gen-Z protests on September 8 and 9 as anti-party elements.

Addressing a meeting of the dissolved House of Representatives parliamentary party at the party’s central office in Chyasal, Oli said he cannot take responsibility for the destruction and violence that occurred during the Gen-Z movement.

“Those insisting that I must take responsibility for the events of September 8 and 9 are anti-party and anti-leadership,” he said, adding that the interim government was not formed by the people but through informal means like telephone and Discord.

He reiterated that governments are created through political processes and elections, describing the current interim administration as unconstitutional.
