Biplav-led CPN (Maoist) registers for elections



KATHMANDU: Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplav’ will participate in the upcoming House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5, after his party, CPN (Maoist), led by him, officially registered with the Election Commission on Tuesday.

Previously, Biplav had been politically active under the name Nepal Communist Party (NCP), but the party had not gained official recognition. Now, he has registered the party using the name CPN (Maoist) from the armed conflict era. The Election Commission will issue the registration certificate to the party on Tuesday itself.

Biplav’s party will use the rose as its election symbol. The party’s central committee has 105 members, with Chand serving as general secretary and Khadk Bhadur Bishwakarma as spokesperson. The party’s standing committee has six members, while the 25-member politburo has also been formed.

Among the 105 central committee members, 16 are from Kalikot, 12 from Rolpa, and 5 from Kapilvastu. The committee includes 35 women and 16 members from the Dalit community.
