KATHMANDU: The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police has arrested two inmates who had escaped from Jagannathdewal Prison in Sundhara during the protest on September 9.
The detainees include Gita Lama of Gajuri-2, Dhading, and Mangalnarayan Mohan Maharjan of Kathmandu.
Lama, who had been had been imprisoned at the Jagannathdeval Women’s Prison. Likewise, Maharjan had been sentenced to one year in prison along with a monetary fine in a gold smuggling case.
According to SSP and CIB spokesperson Shiva Kumar Shrestha, Lama was arrested from Dhobighat in Lalitpur Metropolitan City-3, while Maharjan was apprehended from Dhobichaur, Kathmandu. Both have been sent back to the Jagannathdewal Prison Office to resume their sentences.
