KATHMANDU: The government has spent 18 percent of the total annual budget in the first three months of the ongoing fiscal year 2025/26, according to the Office of the Financial Comptroller General (FCGO).
By the end of Ashoj, total government expenditure stood at Rs 364.58 billion, which is 18.56 percent of the Rs 1.96 trillion budget announced for the current fiscal year.
Of the total, recurrent spending accounted for Rs 256.80 billion, or 21.75 percent of the annual allocation. Capital expenditure, however, remained sluggish, with only Rs 19.18 billion, or 4.7 percent, spent in the period. Similarly, Rs 88.60 billion, or 23.61 percent of the total allocation, was spent under the financing heading.
Revenue collection during the same period reached 16.51 percent of the annual target. The government had set a revenue target of Rs 1.53 trillion for this fiscal year, of which Rs 253.18 billion has been collected so far.
Domestic revenue collection stood at Rs 249.05 billion, or 16.83 percent of the annual goal of Rs 1.48 trillion. Meanwhile, foreign grants reached only Rs 2.72 billion, or 3.76 percent of the targeted Rs 53.44 billion.
