WASHINGTON D.C.: Finance Minister Rameshore Khanal met with Singaporean President Tharman Shanmugaratnam on Friday on the sidelines of the World Bank Group’s annual meeting in Washington, D.C., the Embassy of Nepal said.
During the meeting, Minister Khanal briefed President Shanmugaratnam on Nepal’s latest political developments and economic priorities. The Singaporean President highlighted five key areas crucial for achieving rapid economic growth — human capital, infrastructure, energy, trade, and liberalism — and underscored the importance of focused policy efforts in these sectors.
Separately, Minister Khanal held discussions with Allen Forlemu, Acting Regional Vice President of the International Finance Corporation (IFC). Talks centered on strengthening Nepal’s partnership with the IFC and expanding support for the growth of the country’s private sector, according to the Embassy.
Nepal Rastra Bank Governor Dr. Biswo Nath Poudel, officials from the Finance Ministry, embassy representatives, and IFC delegates were present during the meetings.
