Kathmandu DAO asks public to conclude Deusi-Bhailo programs by 9 pm

KATHMANDU: The District Administration Office (DAO) Kathmandu has urged the public to avoid activities prohibited by law during the Tihar festival, highlighting safety and discipline throughout the celebrations.

In a public notice issued on Friday, the DAO advised people to exercise caution while using candles and electric lights and strictly refrain from buying, selling, storing, or using fireworks, explosives, or any fire-prone materials.

The notice further requested that Deusi-Bhailo programs be organized in a respectful and disciplined manner and concluded by 9 pm. The DAO stated that such programs should not obstruct public roads or pathways and that no festival stalls or puja mandaps should be set up in public spaces in ways that disrupt movement.

Citing past incidents, the DAO also warned of increased risks of theft during the festive period and urged residents to remain vigilant, avoid leaving homes unattended, and promptly report suspicious activity to nearby security units.

The administration further instructed the public to refrain from black marketing, price gouging, or selling expired goods and urged transport operators not to overload vehicles, overcharge passengers, or drive under the influence of alcohol.

The DAO also cautioned against illegal activities such as gambling, online fraud, and unauthorized lottery or digital scams, calling on the public to celebrate the festival peacefully and lawfully.
