Six senior leaders resign from Janamat Party

KATHMANDU: The Janamat Party has been hit by a wave of resignations, with six senior leaders, including Senior Vice President Abdul Khan, stepping down in protest against what they described as failed leadership and arrogance at the top.

Joining Khan in the mass resignation are Central Spokesperson Dr. Sharad Singh Yadav, Central Coordinator Kumar Yadav, leader S.K. Singh, Far-Western Province In-Charge Rajaram Chaudhary, and Central Member Bikram Bahadur Bam.

The leaders had jointly demanded that party chair Dr. Chandra Kant Raut and Organization Department head Dr. Jaykant Raut resign within 24 hours to make way for a new leadership. When their ultimatum was ignored, they announced their departure, saying they would not even remain as ordinary members of the party.

In their resignation letter, the group accused the leadership of disregarding internal dissent and insulting public sentiment, particularly the sacrifices made during the recent Gen-Z protests. “Instead of self-reflection, the leadership used arrogant language through official channels, undermining the blood spilled during the movement,” the statement read.

Party spokesperson Dr. Yadav confirmed the move, saying the resignations were triggered by the leadership’s unwillingness to change course. He warned that the party’s credibility and relevance were now at risk.
