Monsoon conditions weaken in Nepal; moderate rainfall likely

KATHMANDU: The Weather Forecasting Division of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has stated that the monsoon system in Nepal is currently somewhat weak, as the monsoon low-pressure trough remains positioned south of its average location.

Moisture-laden winds are continuing to enter Nepal from the Bay of Bengal. According to the Division, most parts of the country are currently experiencing generally cloudy conditions.

Moderate rainfall has been reported in some areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces. Additionally, light rain has been observed at one or two locations in the hilly areas of Karnali Province.

The weather is expected to remain generally cloudy this afternoon across the country. Moderate rainfall is likely in a few areas of the Terai and hilly regions of Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, as well as in the remaining hilly areas of the country. Light rain is also possible in one or two locations of the remaining Terai regions.

There is also a chance of heavy rainfall at one or two places in the hilly regions of Koshi and Bagmati provinces, and in the Terai areas of Lumbini Province.
