Bamdev Gautam to join Unified Socialist Party today

KATHMANDU: Senior politician Bamdev Gautam, coordinator of the Rastriya Ekata Abhiyan (National Unity Campaign), is set to join the Madhav Kumar-led Unified Socialist party today.

The much-anticipated unification between Gautam’s campaign and the Unified Socialist Party is expected to be formally announced at an event in the Rastriya Sabhagriha this afternoon.

The move follows a written agreement signed on July 11 between Madhav Nepal and Gautam, paving the way for the merger of the two political forces.

This marks a significant development in left-wing politics in Nepal, as Gautam, once a top CPN-UML leader, returns to party fold through a route that had long remained uncertain.

This is not the first time efforts were made to bring Gautam and Nepal’s parties together.
