Pokhara High Court orders retrieval of Suryadarshan Cooperative case file involving Rabi Lamichhane

KATHMANDU: The Pokhara High Court has instructed the retrieval of the case file related to the Suryadarshan Cooperative fraud case, in which Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chair Rabi Lamichhane is one of the accused.

The directive was issued on Sunday by a joint bench of Chief Judge Dr. Ratna Bahadur Bagchand and Judge Milan Kumar Rai, following three consecutive days of hearings.

Lamichhane’s legal team had objected on Friday, stating the hearing had moved forward without their prior knowledge. In response, the court scheduled a review of the petitions for Sunday.

Previously, on January 9, 2025, the Kaski District Court had released Lamichhane on bail of Rs. 6.5 million, under the order of Judge Nitish Rai.

Both Lamichhane and the government had filed appeals at the High Court, seeking to overturn the District Court’s ruling.

While Lamichhane has requested to be released on a regular date, the government attorney has demanded he remain in custody.
