NC-UML coalition government failing to function effectively: Lawmaker Gautam

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) lawmaker Sanjay Gautam has emphasized the need to move forward by forging a national consensus.

Speaking at the meeting of the House of Representatives on Sunday, Gautam said the current coalition between the Nepali Congress and CPN-UML is failing to function effectively as a government, leading to growing public frustration.

He stressed that building national consensus is essential under the present circumstances.

He further noted that the parliament is underperforming and public trust in the judiciary is waning, making consensus politics even more critical to address the country’s pressing issues.

Gautam argued that amending the constitution through national consensus and restoring public trust could help unify the nation.

He warned that further delays in pursuing such consensus would negatively impact the country’s political system.
