41 people killed in disaster incidents in pre-monsoon



KATHMANDU: Forty one people lost their lives in disaster related incidents so far since the start of the pre-monsoon this year.

According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, a total of 257 people sustained injuries and property worth millions of rupees was damaged in such incidents during the period.

Pre-monsoon is now taking place in the country. Generally, the period of March-May is considered as the pre-monsoon season.

Issuing a notice today, the Authority stated that light to moderate rainfall along with thunderstorm and lightning is taking place at some places of the country due to influence of local and westerly winds.

This weather pattern would continue for few days, it is said.

Likewise, the Authority has urged one and all to follow the disaster related information, forecast and warnings issued by the bodies of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology to remain alert about disasters and provide assistance in building a safe community.
