24-year-old man killed in hunting mishap in Badikedar



DOTI: A 24-year-old man was killed in a hunting accident on Thursday afternoon in Badikedar Rural Municipality, Doti district.

The deceased has been identified as Naresh Sarki of Barchai, Badikedar-2. According to Biradatta Pant, Chief of the Khadyauli Police Post, the incident occurred on the banks of the Bedupata River in Badikedar-1 when a loaded firearm accidentally discharged.

The firearm was reportedly being carried by Kamal Singh Khadka of Badikedar-1, who was part of a group that had gone hunting in the area.

The gun exploded, and the bullet struck Sarki in the right side of his chest, killing him on the spot, police said.

Following the incident, police have arrested ten individuals who were involved in the hunting expedition for further investigation.

Those detained include Kamal Singh Khadka, Khem Khadka of Rajed, Tara Singh Khadka, Tejendra Bhat, Ammar Shah, Chakra Bhat, Sunil Bam, Ganesh Gharti Magar, Man Bahadur Shah, and Julesh Namjali Magar of Garbhuja.

Authorities are currently investigating whether the group was carrying the firearm legally and if the hunting activity was authorized.

The body of the deceased has been sent for post-mortem. Further details are awaited as the investigation continues.
