FSU elections taking place today

KATHMANDU: The Free Students’ Union (FSU) elections are being held today across constituent and community campuses of Tribhuvan University (TU).

A total of 6,146 registered voters will cast their ballots to select the student leadership. The president, secretary, and treasurer will be directly elected, while the vice president and deputy secretary will be selected from among the 21 elected members.

If a majority group emerges, these positions will be filled from within that group; otherwise, a consensus-based selection will be pursued. If consensus is not reached, voting among the 21 members will determine the officeholders.

Voting will take place using electronic voting machines, with the election committee deploying 20 machines for the process.

The National Human Rights Commission has announced that it will monitor today’s elections to ensure a fair and transparent process.
