KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress leader Dr Shekhar Koirala has raised concerns about the government being dominated by the KP Sharma Oli-led UML.

Speaking at the inauguration of the National Conference of District Branch Chairmen, organized by the Nepal Press Union on Tuesday, Koirala expressed worries that the government formed through the Nepali Congress-UML alliance is increasingly being influenced by UML.

“We are in power, but we are out of power,” Koirala said, adding that there is a need to caution the government. “I am worried whether this government is being UMLized.”

Koirala also criticized the Nepali Congress-UML alliance for operating the government through a mechanism, stating that such practices undermine democracy.

“There is an evil attempt to run the government through a mechanism. In a democracy, the mechanism does not run the government,” he said.
