Bhim Rawal accuses Oli of authoritarian tendencies

KATHMANDU:  Dr. Bhim Rawal, proponent of the “Motherland Awakening Campaign,” has accused Prime Minister and CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli of succumbing to authoritarianism fueled by power.

Speaking at a reception program organized by the campaign in Safebagar, Achham, Rawal warned Oli against entertaining dreams of despotism, reminding him that such tendencies are rejected in Nepal.

“KP Oli has said he will remove anyone who raises their voice. This reflects the authoritarian and dictatorial mindset that power has instilled in him,” said Rawal, adding, “What dictatorship has ever survived in Nepal? Oli might dream of it, but such dreams are confined to the night; they won’t materialize in reality.”

Rawal also criticized UML General Secretary Shankar Pokharel, accusing him of supporting what he termed as Oli’s authoritarianism. He remarked that significant resistance against Oli’s tendencies is brewing in Oli’s home district, Jhapa, and Pokharel’s home district, Dang.

“Whether it’s in Jhapa or in Dang, I want to inform you from here, if there is a place where the largest pit to bury authoritarianism is being dug, it is in Dang and Jhapa,” Rawal declared.
