Elderly man killed in wild elephant attack in Morang



MORANG: A 71-year-old man lost his life in Sundarharaincha Municipality-8, Morang, following an attack by a wild elephant.

The deceased, identified as Hari Prasad Ghimire, was killed on the spot last night when a wild elephant accompanied by a calf attacked him, according to the District Police Office, Morang.

Police reports indicate that Ghimire was attempting to flee when the elephant began causing a disturbance in the area, but he was caught and fatally attacked.

Authorities are currently preparing to send Ghimire’s body to a hospital for postmortem examination.

The incident highlights the ongoing challenges of human-wildlife conflict in the region, raising concerns about safety in areas frequented by wildlife.
