Two elephants gifted by Nepal depart for Qatar from Bhairahawa

BHAIRAHAWA: Two elephants gifted by Nepal departed for Qatar on Wednesday from Gautam Buddha International Airport in Bhairahawa.

The elephants, Khagendra Prasad and Rudrakali, were transported aboard a Qatar Airways Boeing 777F freighter operating flight number QR 8824. The aircraft took off shortly after 5 pm.

The two elephants were brought to Bhairahawa from Chitwan on Tuesday in preparation for the transfer. The flight had earlier been diverted to Kolkata, India, due to adverse weather conditions.

According to Gautam Buddha International Airport General Manager Pratap Babu Tiwari, the aircraft is expected to reach Qatar in approximately four hours after departing Bhairahawa. He said the earlier diversion to Kolkata was caused by poor weather conditions in the morning.
