Supreme Court resumes full operations from today

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court has resumed full operations from today, after functioning partially since the Gen-Z movement on September 9, which caused extensive fire and damage to the court premises.

A full bench meeting on November 7 had decided that all cases and services affected by arson, stone-pelting, vandalism, and looting would resume regular proceedings from November 17.

The court stated that case files that were spared from destruction will follow their original hearing dates, while pending cases will be processed according to legal procedures.

Along with resuming blocked services, the Supreme Court’s registration and hearings of cases, appeals, review petitions, and repeated submissions have restarted. The court’s IT department successfully recovered the information system, ensuring that critical data lost during the unrest is restored.
