PALPA: Rampur Municipality has constructed a footpath along the banks of the Kaligandaki River with the aim of promoting religious tourism in the region.
Mayor Raman Bahadur Thapa informed that 2,567 meters of footpath were constructed in the fiscal year 2081/082. This work is part of a broader plan to build a 34-kilometer-long footpath stretching from Ram Nadi Dham to Devghat, highlighting the religious, cultural, and environmental significance of the area.
Mayor Thapa stated that stone paving and interlocking tile installations are currently underway, and once completed, the path will enhance access to religious sites while showcasing the natural beauty of the riverbank. He emphasized that the initiative will contribute to boosting local tourism and strengthening the economy.
In the last fiscal year, various segments of the footpath were completed. These included 557 meters of interlocking paving in Keladi (Ward No. 3), 191 meters in Jyagdi Park (Ward No. 6), 432 meters in Tilakpur, and 195 meters in Sundar Fun Park. In the Bhujat area of Ward No. 8, 678 meters of stone printing and 210 meters of interlocking were completed.
Additionally, 114 meters of stone printing were carried out in Shalikram Park in Ward No. 10, and 190 meters of interlocking and stone printing were completed at Narmadeshwor Temple.
Waiting rooms have also been constructed in Ward No. 10, including at Bhanghat and Tatopani Ghat. The project is being implemented in coordination with the federal government and Rampur Municipality.
The Kaligandaki River holds deep religious importance and is connected to several sacred sites, including Ramnadi Dham, Keladi Dham, Ramghat Dham, Rididham, and Devghat.
Locals believe that the construction of this footpath will play a vital role in promoting religious tourism and drawing more visitors to these revered locations.
