Federal Civil Service Bill set to be passed today

KATHMANDU: The much-awaited Federal Civil Service Bill, which has drawn keen interest from government employees and the administrative sector, is set to be passed by the House of Representatives today.

According to the agenda for today’s House meeting, Minister for Federal Affairs and General Administration, Rajkumar Gupta, will present the proposal to discuss the bill along with the report from the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee. The government plans to endorse the bill today itself following deliberation in the House.

On Sunday, Committee Chairperson Ramhari Khatiwada had tabled the report on the bill concerning the formation, operation, and terms of service of the federal civil service.

Earlier, during the House session on May 29, the Federal Civil Service Bill, 2023, had been sent to the committee for clause-wise discussions with amendments, as per the House Regulations, 2022. The bill had received 1,530 amendment proposals, and the committee, including its subcommittees, conducted a total of 47 meetings to finalize the report.

Once passed by both houses and authenticated by the Speaker, the bill will be published in the Nepal Gazette and will come into effect as law.
