Japanese Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs calls on PM Oli



KATHMANDU: Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, IKUINA Akiko paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli today.

Akiko, who is currently in Nepal to participate in the ongoing Sagarmatha Sambaad, held a courtesy meeting with PM Oli at the latter’s official residence in Baluwatar.

Stating that Nepal and Japan shared the cordial relations, PM Oli mentioned that the Sagarmatha Sambaad was organized acknowledging the facts that the issues emerging due to climate changes are a cause for concerns for everyone and collaborative efforts were needed to tackle this global crisis.

On the occasion, Oli extended gratitude to the visiting Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs for participating in the Sagarmatha Sambaad representing the Japanese government.

Furthermore, the PM said that Japan’s experiences in the areas of building disaster resilient buildings, constructing adaptive infrastructures and environmental sustainability could be useful for Nepal.

In response, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs Akiko reaffirmed the Japanese government’s commitment for continued support to Nepal’s economic development, education, human resources development and environment conservation efforts.

Presenting in the meeting were Japanese Ambassador to Nepal Maeda Toru and high-ranking official of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nepal.
