Prachanda credits people for party’s political success

KATHMANDU: Chair of the Maoist Center and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has asserted that his party gained power through the strength of the people.

Speaking at a public meeting held today in Doti as part of the Maoist (Mid-Hill Highway) Janata Jagran Campaign with the People, which began on Friday, Dahal highlighted the Maoists were elected to power by the people’s votes, not through the influence of any other political party.

“We, the poor, workers, farmers, oppressed classes, and communities like you, have brought the Maoist Center to lead the government three times through the Comprehensive Peace Agreement,” he said.

Chair Dahal also offered self-criticism, stating that he has come closer to the people and will strive to understand their concerns and address them effectively.
